The Good Life: Back in Nebraska!

Sorry it took so long! I have been very busy now that I am back in the States and having to catch up with a ll the new gossip in town! Being back in the United States for a month has been a bit of a transition. I was not use to paying for gas let alone drive a car. I have also noticed how much louder people are from the States now that I have to be surrounded by them every day. Nebraska is a little boring as well since there is no oceans or mountains. But hey, Lady Gaga wrote a song about us so that's something.... I miss NZ already and probably talk about it every day with people who probably do not care lol. Hopefully my pictures do Lincoln justice!
We went my friends house for the 4th of July and she lives on a small lake called Capital Beach

So my camera takes horrible pictures of fireworks so I gave up! We went out on the boat and watched the fireworks which was pretty cool
This is in the middle of downtown Lincoln a few buildings that have nice fancy restuarants in them

This is the middle of the historic Haymarket in Lincoln where a lot of older buildings are. There is the train station (which is a lot smaller than NZ's) and also a lot of cool restuarants and coffee shops

The mill is probably my favorite coffee place. I do a lot of my homework and studying there as well

Yes these trains are still in use and run through the middle of Lincoln

The Lied Center is the performing arts center on UNL campus

This is the science building where I have spent most of my college career
This is at the middle of campus right by our union

My sorority Kappa Delta! To see the inside and some of the awesome girls I share it with go to

Our Capital building! I know what it looks like but don't make fun! :)
My boyfriend and I went on a camping trip to Mahoney State Park about 20 minutes outside of Lincoln. We went biking, hiking, and swimming

A picture looking up the tower that overlooks the park

As you can tell we have no mountains here....

The Platte River

Oh the windmill...an iconic symbol of Nebraska
Hope you all enjoyed my simple but good life :)

More walks through the Garden

Since I have a whole month to study for finals I have had a lot of extra time on my hands. With it being winter, there are few days that are warm and sunny. Yesterday, however was 60 degrees and sunny! We probably never get that in NE in the winter! I took advantage of the day and decided to walk through the other parts of the Wellington Botanical Gardens. Also, the night before my flatmates and I went out for Julien's last days in Wellington. The bar we went to was the same bar where some of the All Black/Hurricane Rugby, players hang out and there was a whole table of them across the bar! It would be like seeing a whole bunch of professional football players at home. Since the bar was not full we could have easily walked up and gotten pictures and probably a drink with them. However, I am shy and did not have my camera with me so all I have is a story to tell.

This tree was very cool on the inside...I wanted to climb to the top and take pictures but people were staring at me when I walked inside of it.

This was a nice look out where people could sit and enjoy Wellington's harbour
