Feb 18th Day off and a Night out

This is the view from my friends flat..I wasn't so lucky and have trees blocking the city

More of the town..I love this bridge and the trees that surround it

This is Cuba street...said to be the hippest street in Wellington and was built for the college students..a lot of really cool boutiques and alternative places on the 4 blocks
Story time!  So my friend Cortland and I were trying to find a place to eat and one of the places said there was a food court but since they label their floors different and the 1st floor is usually the 2nd floor we decided we would go to the top and figure out where we were. When we got off on the 4th floor and realized nothing was there we turned around and see this sign and button and nothing else to open the elevator so we look around for the stairs. After we are in the stair well we realize every single door is locked; so we spent 10 minutes banging on the door trying to get someone to come save us. Right before we were about to call the police a boy, our age, comes out laughing and opens the door for us. He said that it has happened a lot and that the red button is how you get the elevator and that the sign is a joke.

A little cove near the shore in Wellington, this is the artsy side of town

This is Civic Square...right next to the shore line...this art piece is one of my favorites since it is suspended in the air

Tonight we went to Westpac stadium to watch the Wellington Hurricanes play rugby..both teams had players from the All Blacks team which is one of the best professional teams in the world. The figure below represents the Moari ppl that are the natives in NZL. They believe that the uglier face you make the more fierce you look and a better warrior you will make. When the Moari show their dances they usually have cool designs on their face and turn their head and stick out their tongues.

Here they are practicing their lifts where they hold a guy up to catch the ball during throw ins

We later went to the clubs which were amazing!! Jennifer and Lisa are my two kiwi friends they are really cool and Jennifer is my flat mate. At the clubs no one grinds on each other because they see that as sexual and awkward so here everyone knows how to actually dance so I love it :)

  4. Kia Ora Megan! I had no idea you were in NZ! We were there in Nov-Dec last year. I SO wish we were still there! So are you in Wellington at a university there? We were all over the North Island (no time to get to the South Island), but were only in Wellington at the airport after flying from Auckland. Then we were off on the road winding our way back northward.

Enjoy your time there. Hands down the most beautiful place on earth. Wish I could move there! If you get a chance to get up to the northland, try to get to Paihia and to a dolphin cruise with Carino Cruises. Most AMAZING time we ever had! This is a pic from my Flickr from that cruise (still haven't found the time to upload all of my 1000s of pix!) http://www.flickr.com/photos/21092497@N03/5401426535/in/set-72157625633567554/
